Go Visit a Farm!

Boy with Chicken

Student learning to chickens.

Yolo Farm to Fork offers grants to local schools to help off-set the cost of a field trip to a local farm. YF2F’s Farm Visits Grant Program combine farm exploration, interactive discussion, and hands-on gardening to create a unique experience which addresses school curriculum topics while also making important Farm-To-Table connections. We offer a variety of different farm visits that are designed for flexibility so as to fit with a variety of topics and to change with the seasons and daily rhythms of the farm they are visiting. Partnering farms include the University of California at Davis Student Farm and Ecological Garden, Fiery Ginger Farm, Root Cause Farm, and Fully Belly Farm.

While on the field trips, every student participates in a harvest or farming activity, and more importantly are encouraged to “eat” the produce that grown on the site. Student learning activities include compost,

Student learns about flower reproduction.

In the fall of 2016, Yolo Farm to Fork was able to fund over 800 students to Go Visit A Farm!
