Tickets are now on sale for the 6th annual Tour de Cluck, a fun, family-friendly fundraiser that is celebrated in conjunction with May Bike Month in Davis and the Sacramento region. The event centerpiece is a bicycle tour or “coop crawl” of chicken coops around Davis, as well as other fowl-centric activities that will take place this year on Saturday, May 30.
Tickets are available online at Brown Paper Tickets at http://bit.ly/1G8nHKY and also at Ken’s Bike-Ski-Board, Davis Food Co-op, Western Feed and Pet Supply, and on Saturdays at the Davis Farmers Market (at the south end of the market next to the Master Gardener’s table). General admission is $15; children 10 and under are free.
Participants will follow a route map (provided with their ticket purchase), and will be able to visit any of the coops in order of their preference. Volunteers will help keep cyclists on track and also provide chicken and coop advice along the route. Coops may be visited by bicycle or by car.
The self-guided coop crawl begins at 10 a.m. following the Eggstravaganza games and relays for kids and parents, as well as the strutting “Crower” and “Clucker” contests at Central Park’s Davis Farmers Market. Valet parking will be provided where bikes will be secured while participants shop at the farmers market and enjoy the opening ceremonies.
Tour de Cluck is a fundraiser for Davis Farm to School, a program of Yolo Farm to Fork. Proceeds from this family-fun event support three of Davis Farm to School projects: supporting school gardens, improving the quality of nutritional offerings in school meals, and continuing the expansion of the sustainable waste management program, DavisRISE. These funds assist students with enriching lifelong opportunities and support them in being stewards of their school environment. Visit www.tourdecluck.org for more information.
